Humanitarian hub: HUMANITARIAN HUB

Challenges: The war in Ukraine has decimated the economy and destroyed the ability of many people to meet their basic needs for food, clothing, security, shelter, and safe drinking water.

Our response: In spite of dangers, we work daily to meet the basic needs of Ukrainians. We chose not to wait for a more convenient or safer time. Instead, we travel to villages in the Kherson region and actively minister to residents. Our volunteers give us specific information about the assistance that is needed.

My Home, with the support of the Golgotha Church in the city of Kherson, serves as a humanitarian hub to mobilize volunteers from Christian communities. As you might expect, the need for assistance continues to increase.

My Home humanitarian assistance distributed to residents in the war zone to date:

  • – 127.4 tons of food
  • – 7.4 tons of hygiene products
  • – 16.3 tons of clothes
  • – 1.8 tons of equipment (Shovels, picks, chainsaws, tarpaulins, generators)

Our team plans to pilot business and humanitarian projects for the restoration and reconstruction of housing destroyed by the war. According to national damage assessment estimates:

  • – 10-15,000 households (apartments and houses) were completely destroyed along the Right Bank of the Kherson region
  • – 20-25,000 households in the Right Bank area were damaged significantly but can possibly be restored
  • – The scale of destruction on the Left Bank cannot be estimated prior to liberation, but it could be much more. 77% of the region’s territory and 60% of its population were located on the Left Bank.
  • – The millions of dollars of destruction in the cities of Bucha or Irpen is actually much less than in the Kherson region. In Kherson, damages will be measured in billions of dollars. The worldwide pro-Ukrainian community needs to engage actively to help restore the Kherson region.

5-7 YEAR VISION: HUMANITARIAN HUB

The Kherson Humanitarian Hub will include a warehouse that will store and distribute daily life necessities to people in need. It will also be a center to create and support socially responsible businesses during the recovery period.

Urgently needed humanitarian aid items include:

  • – Food
  • – Hygiene products
  • – Clothes and shoes
  • – Medicines
  • – Household items
  • – Agricultural planting goods (potatoes, seeds)

Our Humanitarian Hub goal: provide basic life necessities for 200,000 people
